Why Regenerative Viticulture Matters

Regenerative viticulture goes beyond sustainability by actively enhancing soil health, biodiversity, ecosystem resilience, and social responsibility:

  • Healthier Soils: Foster nutrient-rich, resilient soils for thriving vines.
  • Higher Quality Grapes: Healthier vines produce grapes with richer flavor profiles and consistent quality.
  • Environmental and Social Stewardship: Demonstrate leadership in sustainability, climate action, and social responsibility.
  • Market Recognition: Build consumer trust with independent, third-party certification.

“Our certification is a toolkit that empowers vineyard owners to implement practices suited to their specific environment—whether that’s cover cropping, integrating livestock, or reducing chemical inputs.”

What Vineyards Are Saying:

Famille Gassier farmer profile

Famille Gassier, a renowned estate in France’s Southern Rhône, embraced regenerative practices to boost resilience and enhance grape quality.

Michel Gassier and his youngest daughter, Isabel, are both passionate advocates of regenerative agriculture. Their Regenerative Plan includes increasing soil organic matter by 50%, sowing diverse cover crops, and creating wildlife habitats.

“Certified Regenerative by AGW provides a clear framework for identifying, measuring, and monitoring our own targets, with a unique regenerative plan and annual auditing to independently verify progress. It demands transparency from vine to bottle, ensuring our entire operation adheres to measurable and quantifiable objectives.”

Hebron Vineyard viticulture

Nestled beneath the Preseli Hills in West Wales, Jemma Vickers and Paul Rolt established and planted Hebron Vineyard in 2010.

They manage the vineyard without using artificial insecticides, herbicides, fungicides or fertiliser, focusing instead on working in harmony with the local ecosystem while nurturing and protecting soil health.

“Our Certified Regenerative by AGW logo means a great deal to us, both as custodians of the land and as a business. Our certification means that we have reached a benchmark of good regenerative practice. From here, we push onwards with our regenerative journey.”

Maison Mirabeau viticulture

Stephen Cronk and family founded Maison Mirabeau in 2010 and it has emerged as one of the most forward-thinking wine brands in France’s Cote de Provence.

Key regenerative practices at Domaine Mirabeau include no-till, cover crops, compost, foliar treatments with plant extracts, the establishment of biodiversity corridors, and the avoidance of synthetic inputs.

“Our goal is to work with growers who are making the right decisions in their vineyards today, so that one day we can all look back and be proud of the impact we’ve made. We are delighted to be bringing regenerative principles decisively into our supply chain and in front of a global audience.”
