Michelle Crawford raises Certified Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World (AGW), Certified Grassfed by AGW beef cattle outdoors on pasture at Bedias Creek Farms in Iola, Texas. The woman-owned farm is committed to sustainable and high-welfare practices for its cattle.
“Sustainable farming is a dynamic process that leads to healthy soil capable of producing high quality, nutrient dense forages for our livestock and food for us,” Michelle explains. The team at Bedias Creek Farms chose to become Certified Grassfed by AGW to showcase their exemplary animal husbandry practices to consumers. Certified Grassfed by AGW is the only certification and logo in the U.S. and Canada that guarantees food products come from animals fed a 100 percent grass and forage diet, raised outdoors on pasture or range for their entire lives, and managed according to the Certified Animal Welfare Approved by AGW welfare and environmental standards on an independent farm.
Bedias Creek Farms raises the Aubrac and Red Devon cattle breeds because they are a good fit for their grassfed cattle operation. “We have selected our two breeds because of their outstanding genetic expression based on a grass-based diet,” says Michelle. “We let our cows be cows! They graze on only fresh forages and are never given grain, routine antibiotics or growth hormones.”
